- August – Meadowlands Stadium, the new home of the New York Giants and Jets, is set to open with a pre-season game. The first regular season game is scheduled to be held September 13.

- January 7 - 2010 BCS National Championship Game at Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California
- February 7 – Super Bowl XLIV, Dolphin Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
- Spring, dates not finalized: Estimated debuts of four new football leagues: Arena Football 1, All American Football League, United States Football League (2010), and United National Gridiron League. The first of these consists mostly of teams from the now-dissolved AF2.

- July 13—August 1 – FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, Germany
- September 5—September 25 – FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, Trinidad and Tobago

- April 12 (tentative date) – Target Field in Minneapolis, the first stadium built specifically for the Minnesota Twins, opens with the Twins hosting the Boston Red Sox.
- July 13 – 81st Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California

- February 14 - 2010 NBA All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas, USA
- August 28–September 12 – 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey
- September 23–October 3 – 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic

- November 28 – 98th Grey Cup game at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
