Asia cup is tournament of men's ODI cricket and established in 1983 but originally tournament was held in 1984 in Sharjah. It was scheduled to be held every two year but many times the tournament has postponed due to some reason.
Therefore, yet only ten tournament has held in three decades. The Asia cup has held in the year 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2010. First time, only three teams were participated in Asia cup and now at least four teams are participated in every tournament such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
In the year 2004 and 2008, two teams as Hong Kong and UAE was also participated in Asia cup. Most successful team is India with five titles of Asia cup and recent champion is also India win over Sri Lanka. Sanath Jayasuriya is most run scorer with 1209 runs and Muttiah Muralitharan is most wicket taker with 27 wickets.
Asia Cup Cricket 2013 Date and Time
Asia cup 2013 is 11th tournament and it will be held in Bangladesh. The date and times of tournament is declared and four teams will be participated finally in this Asia cup. It is also considered that the Asian cricket fans will observed the biggest competition amongst four Asian teams that is major cricket teams of the world. The tournament will be played on the form of round robin.
All fours are in well form and they have shown their efforts in recent performances. The tournament will be participated by India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Opening of this tournament will be on March 12 and Last on March 22, 2013 with final match. Previously the dates are declared as March 1st to 11th but conflicting of tri-series between India, Australia and Sri Lanka, the dates has postponed by Asian Cricket Council and changed as March 12th to 22nd.
Bangladesh, one of the participants of Asia cup 2013 will host the tournament and tournament includes total of seven matches along with final that will be held on 22nd March. The venue of tournament is Sher-e-Bangla stadium, Mirpur and all matches played in this stadium also. First day of the tournament will start with the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
