Australian Open

The Australian Open is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, which is held each year. The tournament is held in the last fortnight of the month of January at the well-known Melbourne Park. The tournament was held for the first time in 1905 and was last contested on grass in 1987. Since 1988, the tournament has been held on hard courts at Melbourne Park.
 
Mats Wilander is the only player to win the tournament on both grass and hard courts. Like all other Grand Slam tournaments, there are men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's, and mixed doubles; and junior's, wheelchair, exhibition, and legends' competitions.

The Australian Open is the most popular first of Grand Slam tennis tournaments held to agree with the summer down under in January. Held for the first time in 1905 the tournament was formerly contested on grass but has been played on hard counts since 1988.

The Australian Open Tennis Tournament is held yearly in Melbourne, Victoria. Originally played in December the tournament now takes place in the last two weeks of January.

This world-famous tournament is held at Melbourne Park which was particularly constructed in time for the 1988 Australian Open. The Australian Open is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments held across the world (it joins the French, Wimbledon and US Opens). Australian Open has come a long way since its inception. One of the four Grand Slams, it poses to be a global forum for display of talent in tennis. Held in the city of Melbourne ever since the past three decades, the event attracts people from all over the globe.

The 2008 Australian Open achieved the highest ever day/night audience record for any Grand Slam tournament, with an audience of about 62,885. The only Grand Slam to have indoor play, Australian Open similar to other Grand Slams, has men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's, and mixed doubles; and junior's and master's competitions.
