It can begin either in late January or in the mid of February depends upon the position of the new moon. On February 3, 2011 Chinese New Year 2010 will begin. It is the Xin-mao ?? year. Xin (Metal) is the eighth of the ten celestial stems and Mao (Rabbit) is the fourth of the twelve terrestrial branches and marks the year of the Rabbit or Hare. According to a myth, on the Chinese New Year, Lord Buddha invited all the animals but only 12 came therefore he named each year after 12 different animals. Personality of the animal became the personality trait of the person born in that particular year.
