Full-fledged twenty20 international matches have been being played since the year 2005. This T20 form of cricket was originally and formally introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in the year 2003, with the launch of the Twenty20 Cup of cricket. The first International Twenty20 cricket match was played between Australia and South Africa in January 2006, in Australia, in which Australian team had won the match. The final of inaugural ICC World Twenty20, organized in South Africa, was won by India defeating Pakistan.

The Champions League Twenty20 event, commonly and popularly also known as the CLT20 tournament, is a very famous and popular International T20 cricket tournament organized every year, and administered collectively by the cricket boards of BCCI, CSA, and CA.
Teams which have been participating in the CLT20 tournament so far are, India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and the West Indies. The champions league Twenty20 2011, most prominently known as the airtel champions league twenty20, is the third edition of CLT20 cricket tournament.
It will be organized and played in the country of India during the time period between September 23 and October 9, 2011. The venues of the CLT20 cricket tournament will be Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The format of this yearly tournament will be the same as was in the year 2010, and the final match will be played in Chennai on October 9, 2011.
