Kenya Cricket Team

Kenya has participated in three versions of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1996, 1999 and 2003. They also contributed in the first World Cup in 1975 as part of the East African band that also had players from Tasmania and Uganda. In the 1975 World Cup, Kenya played as part of the East Africa side. The team could not do anything particular and completely failed to get past the second round.

The East African team did not manage to succeed for the 1979 World Cup. Kenya could not again qualify for the 1983, 1987 and 1992 World Cups. Kenya, playing as an independent nation and not as a part of East Africa, made their World Cup entrance in 1996. Though they did not do well enough to succeed for the second round, they would cherish the tournament for having beaten West Indies in a first round match. The 1999 World Cup was a very forgettable time for Kenya.

They performed rather badly and finished the competition with no win and a first round leave. Kenya will perhaps never forget their 2003 World Cup performance. They defeated three test playing strong nations to reach the semifinals, and thereby gained a plenty of praise. They were even being considered for Test status following their excellent show, but that did not quite happen. The last world cup 2007 is also very disappointing one for Kenya cricket team. They had first round exit.
