At present time New Year has become a big festival in India. The excitement to celebrate the occasion is present all over. The day is celebrated with a lot of passion and enthusiasm and is marked by prayers', parties, celebration, New Year garnet fetes and social feasts. People enjoy partying with friends and family members. People celebrated new year with religious ceremonies and positive resolutions.
 

Indian New Year Diwali


One of the most celebrated Indian New Year is 'Diwali' ', which means 'the celebration of lights'. Deepavali symbolize the starting of the Hindu New Year which is generally the main holiday of India. This festival is celebrated in the month of Kartika, which generally falls in the October. Diwali is an holiday in India, Nepal, Guyana, Malaysia and Singapore. Even though, it is a Hindu festival and has deep Hindu mythology connected with its origin, people from different religions also celebrate Diwali. As the name implies, Diwali is celebrated with lights, lamps and fireworks. The main reason behind Diwali celebration is to get away of the evil, which is symbolized as darkness, and to follow the paths of virtue.

Diwali celebration contains five days of celebrations, with every day having its own importance. The first day is called 'Dhan Teras'. Dhan Teras stands for two things; one for purification and cleansing and the other for wealth and prosperity. The day begins with early morning baths, and fasting which goes on until evening. Dhan Teras is also a day for purchasing new items for the house, and to begin new businesses and accounts. Lakshmi is the goddess of prosperity and wealth, and by lighting lamps all over the streets and homes and leaving the doors and windows open, people greeting the goddess to bless them with wealth in the year to come.
