IPL Teams

The present format of Indian Premier League composed of 10 teams. The teams are owned by different franchise that pays the maximum price in the bidding process.
 
The franchise of ipl teams are from different fields of industries ranging from aviation to entertainment. The first bid of team franchise was held in 24 January 2008. The next bid was unveiled for the fourth session of IPL in 21 March 2009. The winning bidders of respective auction get the award of franchise of their respective teams.

The franchise can buy players in the auction. The maximum number of foreign players in each team must not exceed to 10 while they must contain 8 domestic players and two player of Under-22 pool of BCCI.

Bangalore Royal Challengers: Owned by UB Group of Vijay Mallya. The team was runner up of 2009 IPL Series. The 10 ipl teams 2012 are :

  2. Chennai Super Kings: Owned by India Cements, pride owner of having Indian skipper in their sides. The team bagged Championship Title of 2010 IPL and Champions League.
  3. Kolkata Knight Riders: Owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta.
  4. Deccan Chargers: Owned by Deccan Chronicle, won the IPL championship in the year 2009.
  5. Mumbai Indians: Owned by Reliance Industries Limited of Mukesh Ambani. The team is proud to have the milestone of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar. The team finished as runner up in 2010 IPL tournament.
  6. Delhi Daredevils: Owned by GMR Holdings
  7. Rajasthan Royals: Owned by Emerging Media is the First Champion Of IPL trophy.
  8. Sahara Pune Warriors: Owned by Sahara Adventure Sports Group
