Asia Cup Results

Asia cup was firstly held in 1984 in Sharjah and only participated by three Asian teams such as India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The result of that tournament was in favor of India who has won the final over Sri Lanka. Yet, total number of ten tournament of Asia Cup has played till 2010. Due to some conflicting, the tournament had not made their popularity and only ten tournaments were held in three decades.
 
In 1993, the tournament was cancelled due to worst relationship between India and Pakistan. Most time, the reason of cancelled or postponed of Asia cup is hectic schedule of top three Asian teams. The Asia cup results have favored also in these three teams. Out of ten titles, India has five titles, Sri Lanka has four and Pakistan has only one title. India had made victory in the year 1984, 1988, 1990, 1995 and 2010. Sri Lanka was the champion of 1986, 1997, 2004 and 2008. Pakistan won only one title in the year 2000. Bangladesh was at third place 1986 Asia cup.

India has played 36 matches in nine Asia cup series and won total of 22 matches. Sri Lanka has played 40 matches in ten tournaments and won 29 matches and Pakistan won 18 matches out of 31 matches. Bangladesh couldn't make their well out of nine Asia cup and they won only two match from total 29 match played.

Last Asia Cup Cricket Results


The last Asia cup tournament was played in 2010 and it was tenth edition of Asia Cup that was hosted by Sri Lanka. The tournament was played from June 15 to June 24, 2010. Total of seven matches were held in 2010 Asia cup Four teams India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh were participated in that tournament.
 
The format of tournament was on the basis of round robin and knock out. The final match was played on June 24, 2010 in Dambulla. The results of 2010 Asia cup was in favor of India and it made their victory over host team Sri Lanka. It was fifth titles won seized by India ever. Shahid Afirdi, the captain of Pakistan was man of the series and also was most run getter with 265 run. Most wickets have taken by Lasith Malinga with 9 wickets.

The next Asia cup tournament is approaching and will be held in March. The schedule of Asia cup 2013 is from March 12 to March 22, 2013 and total of six group stage match and one final will be played at Sher-e-Bangla stadium, Mirpur. Bangladesh will meet Pakistan in opening match on 12th March that will be great to observe the effort of both team because both are in well form.
