IPL Groups

Indian premier league is the most accepted Twenty20 cricket league in India as well as all over the world. At first, the ipl was held in 2008 with eight teams and it was same in 2nd and 3rd season in 2009 and 2010 separately. In fourth season of ipl, the officials have approved two new teams named as Pune Warriors and Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
 
In that tournament, they have planned to create ipl groups due to teams increased as group A and B. But in IPL season 5, only nine teams will participated as the termination of Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Total 76 matches will be played in this season and the matches will be going on 51 days. There will be 72 matches played as league matches out of the 76 matches.

Indian Premier League T20 2013 Group Teams


According to the new format of the IPL 2013, total nine teams will be played tournament and divided into two groups of five and four each. The IPL fifth season teams are also divided into two groups as A and B similarly IPL 4 tournament. Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians are placed in Group A. Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders are placed in Group B.

Each team will play 16 matches in league games as per current clause. There would be 8 matches played at home and 8 at away out of 16 matches. All the teams will play with each others in one at home and one away. The team will play the match as a league phase including 72 matches.

After then, all team will play with each other teams one at home and one at away from home. After the finishing all 72 league matches, there will be playoff matches played. Total three playoff matches will be played named as game 2 qualifiers and 1 eliminator. The last match would be played as final to be played between winners of qualifier games.
